I guess when the GPS recognized a map once as 'original' it stores the information in the device and never checks again. Tested with Topo V7 and City Navigator 2016.20. Boot your device with the modified map If it shows the unlocked map shutdown your GPS and change the codepage of your unlocked map back to unicode 65001 in order to get the special characters again. Change the codepage of the unlocked map to 1252 with ImgTool 1.9x 3. Unlock the map - I used gimgtools 0.03 2. The final solution seems to be a combination of several steps. After installation and executing the program, browse for the img Select 'code page'. The tool ImgTool v1.8.16.zip that can be found here resolved the Germany problem. I could unlock both with Garmin Unlocker Alternative 7.1.6 But both tools could not handle German v7 pro (because the file is bigger than 2GB?) gimgunlock 2.0 and 3.0 could not handle German v7 pro but. I was not able to unlock Schweiz v4pro and Austria v4pro with 'Protected Garminfile toolkit_2254_圆4' for GPSMAP64s.
